Youth Report
The last year has been a big year of change for the youth work at Hope Church. Firstly, our Young Generations Team was formed in September 2025 with Chloe, Megan and Mahima joining the team in their various roles. Secondly, my role changed to become the Young Generations Lead at the same time and lastly, as I’m sure you have heard, this will be my last term in the role that has brought me so much joy and where I’ve seen God at work in small ways and big ways. I don’t know what the next season has in store but I know that God is steady and already has it worked. Let’s continue to trust him together.
CYE 2025
We went to Christian Youth Enterprises for the 4th time as a youth group. We had 23 young people come along for this weekend of discipleship, worship, sailing, kayaking and late nights playing games and having meaningful conversations
We had an incredible team of leaders who had been there and done it before. David, Mano and Sushma were amazing and they were joined by T’chan and Megan. We’re heading back to CYE this April 2026, please be praying for us.
Youth Nights
We continue to run our Friday night discipleship group. Over the last year this has involved the new alpha youth course which we were able to train young people to lead themselves, training provided by OneLife, a young leaders programme, life groups and visits to other churches for their worship nights.
Please pray for continued depth in relationship, growth in the life groups we are looking to form and that all we do points young people to Jesus. We will be running alpha youth again.
Meadows Youth After School Club
Our youth work on the Meadows Estate is run in partnership with Youth for Christ and Analice who oversees their London hubs. We are gradually increasing our presence in Beavers School through regular classroom visits. Our vision is to tell each young person about Jesus and give them a space to talk about Jesus and the Christian faith. We do this through creating a space for us to have fun, make food and eat together. The best questions are asked over food. Please pray for growth in our outreach and for peace for the young people who come in. I’m so grateful for Lana and Sandy who serve each week, it wouldn’t happen without you.
Youth Church
Youth Church has become a time where we have invested in young people and given them the opportunity to lead and talk on a Sunday morning. We want this generation of young people to be Bible literate, grounded in their faith and to have a community around.
We have seen this depth develop in their understanding and their desire to encounter the Holy Spirit together. Please pray for more boldness and more encounters as they gather each week.
Growing Leaders
We have been particularly investing in the 16-24 year olds, to disciple them as they develop into the leaders God is calling them to be. For some of the young people this looks like volunteering at our Kick Academy, in our schools provision and at our annual events such as holiday clubs and light parties. For some of them, like Megan, T’Chan, Mahima and Pablo, this has seen them enter into academic study and gaining some experience whilst working for Hope Church. Please pray for them and other young people as they continue to discern God’s purpose for their lives and their leadership.
Schools Work
In line with the aims of the Bishop’s Mission Order to grow our schools ministry, we continue with our schools work.
We have been delivering weekly football after school sessions with Kick in Heathlands School and St Mark’s School
We continue to run regular assemblies in Wellington and Beavers school, particularly at Easter and Christmas and when we have one off events for children.
We have also had missional opportunities alongside the Diocese of London and the Message Trust to go into the Green School to share faith stories and invite the students to our youth events.
Jack Petchey Awards
In 2025, we celebrated our Jack Petchey award winners for their achievements and leadership in our youth ministry:
Lynelle, T’Chan, David, Henry, Izzie and Ellie.
It was great to celebrate their achievements - i’m proud of and grateful to each of them!
